James E. Honkisz, JD, serves the firm as of counsel in the areas of antitrust, international law, general corporate and distribution law. He has been a member of the support faculty at Kennesaw State University since 2004, teaching Business Law and International Business Law to undergraduates in the Michael J. Coles College of Business. For twenty-three years, he practiced as a corporate attorney with The Coca-Cola Company in positions in the US and abroad that included Senior Antitrust Counsel, Division Counsel for Northern Europe, General Counsel of the joint venture Coca-Cola Nestle Refreshments and Group Counsel for Latin America. Predating that, he was a litigation associate with the law firm of Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Honkisz received his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Harvard University and his JD cum laude from The University of Chicago Law School, where he was elected a member of The Order of the Coif. He is a member of the Illinois and Georgia bars and the American Bar Association Antitrust and International Law Sections.
Mr. Honkisz developed and delivered a two-year training curriculum for International Associate Attorneys, including a three-hour seminar on the Company's Bottler's Agreements (1995-2001). He made numerous presentations to groups of business people on compliance with the Company's code of Business Conduct (1984-2003). As Senior Group Counsel for Latin America, created and delivered presentations to groups inside and outside of the Company (i.e., University of Georgia and Emory Law School students and law firm members) on the organization of legal services to the Company's operations in Latin America, as well as on outstanding legal issues (1996-2002). As Competition Law Counsel he created and made antitrust compliance presentations to Company business groups in the United States, Europe and Latin America (1990-1991). Also he addressed a business school class at Kennesaw State University on The Coca-Cola Company (2000) and led a year-long seminar on the writings of James Joyce to a group of first-year MIT students while a senior in college (1969-1970).
